DSF is often asked to recommend intervention programs specifically designed for developing literacy and numeracy skills in students with learning difficulties. As there are currently many intervention programs available to use (some of which are commercially produced and others that are freely available on the internet), it can, at times, be difficult to determine which program is best suited for the student's individual needs. There are, however, a number of factors that should be considered when selecting a program and when designing an individualised intervention plan. The following criteria are associated with programs most likely to achieve successful outcomes:
