Sounds~Write© is an exciting and highly successful approach to the teaching of reading, spelling and writing utilising a linguistic phonic approach.
It has been found to be an exceptionally effective program both internationally and locally. It teaches the skills, conceptual knowledge and code knowledge that are essential for learning to read and spell successfully. The Sounds~Write program is developmentally appropriate as a whole class program for beginning readers i.e. from Foundation (PP) to Year 2, and can be used as a fast and highly effective intervention for children at all year levels who have fallen behind in their reading and spelling from Year 3 onwards. DSF views Sounds~Write as an exceptionally well-developed synthetic phonic program. As such, we have chosen it for use in our DSF Literacy Clinics.
