Learning to spell is an incredibly complex process, which requires the acquisition of numerous skills and understandings.
This online learning course is designed to provide an introduction to the six core skill areas which support effective spelling –
Spelling conventions and patterns;
Metacognitive and memory skills;
Morphology and syntax; and
Semantic knowledge and etymology.
By analysing students’ spelling errors, it is possible to identify where the gaps are in their knowledge and skill development, and to target instruction and support accordingly. This 3-hour e-learning course is completely self-paced, and includes a number of interactive activities, examples and demonstrations. It is suitable for teachers, school psychologists, speech pathologists, specialist tutors and education support staff.
