Term 2 Sounds-Write for Students – Year 2/3

DSF is offering a series of “small group” sessions throughout Term Two 2019 for Year 2/3 students needing extra assistance to develop appropriate reading, spelling and writing skills. The “Sounds-Write” program will be implemented in these sessions, which will run every Monday afternoon for 8 weeks.

Sounds-Write is an evidence-based phonics program utilising an exciting and highly successful approach to the teaching of reading, spelling and writing. The program is developmentally appropriate for beginning readers and also offers fast and highly effective intervention for children at all levels who have fallen behind in their reading and spelling.

Presenter:  Lauren Bellini
Lauren Bellini is a Speech Pathologist at the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation WA. Lauren conducts assessments and provides interventions for children who experience difficulties in language acquisition and literacy development. She works closely with schools and families and enjoys seeing the benefits of providing explicit, evidence-based instruction (including Sounds-Write, Talk for Writing and Word Aware) to at-risk students. Lauren also coordinates and presents the Boost: Help your Child to Read and Spell program to parents of children aged 4 to 7 years at schools and other community-based locations.
