Talk for Writing: How to Select and Adapt Effective Model Texts

A great model text is the key to a successful Talk for Writing unit – but finding (or creating) the perfect model text is far from easy! In this full day session, participants will work with DSF Talk for Writing trainers to examine a range of Talk for Writing model texts suitable for teaching a variety of fiction and non-fiction genres to students across Kindergarten to Year 6. The teaching points of the model texts will be discussed and evaluated. Participants will also work with trainers to adapt model texts to meet the learning needs of different classes, taking into account the unit focus, the grammatical and language skills students need, and the topics students are studying.

Prior attendance at a two day Talk for Writing workshop is a pre-requisite for this session.

Morning tea will be provided but please BYO lunch.
