Little Learners Love Literacy is an explicit, multi-sensory literacy program and unique Australian resource designed to teach children the first steps of reading and spelling. It focuses on ‘phonemic awareness and alphabet knowledge’ giving children the skills they need to read, spell and write with confidence. In this workshop, the features and research that underpins Little Learners Love Literacy will be presented, and participants will be shown how to teach explicitly and sequentially to ensure all children experience success from the beginning. The how and why of the seven stages of the Little Learners Love Literacy program will be demonstrated along with the linking of reading and spelling. The expectations for the Foundation Year will also be discussed, plus the importance of application and practice using decodable text and explicit literacy activities. This is a great opportunity to ask the questions and find out how to achieve the best literacy outcomes for your students.
