How to Optimise Whole School Buy-In for Continuous Improvement Initiatives
Presented by past-Principal, and across-industry stakeholder engagement leader, Mike Prime
A workshop for Principals, Deputy Principals and other in-school leaders
Have you, or your Leadership Team come across outstanding concepts and/or programs that you know your school would benefit from, but you’re not quite sure how to get whole-school buy in?
School leaders are often excited by the works of John Fleming, John Hattie, Dean Thompson and DSF programs such as Improving Reading Comprehension; Talk for Writing; Word Shark; Letters & Sounds; High Quality Maths Instruction; Sounds~Write and Explicit Direct Instruction.
However even though it seems like a ‘no-brainer’ to roll this out in schools, its sometimes difficult to get the whole team to want such change. Sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start.
In this full-day interactive workshop, Mike will take participants through a range of success strategies and experiential approaches to embed and consolidate programs and initiatives in all team members, regardless of opinion. Keeping the workshop very ‘hands-on’, Mike will utilise local and international experiences to focus on:
- Understanding Internal Stakeholders, their needs, wants and motivations
- Using the relationship between ‘culture’ and ‘change’
- Engaging ‘Alignment of Thought’ principles
- Ensuring transparent and high impact Communications
- Strategising actions for change
- Leveraging supporters, motivating fence-sitters and engaging resistors
- Identifying and using different leadership styles to suit the occasion
Mike Prime draws upon an extensive career across education, government and the corporate sector. As a teacher, deputy principal, principal and director, he has been a powerful education leader in a diverse range of settings including remote Indigenous schools, country primary and secondary schools, and newly established schools locally in Perth and internationally in The United Arab Emirates.
Mike complements his cross-cultural education experience with a decade of leading and learning in the resources industry working with not-for-profits, state and federal government, and industry stakeholders in both Australia and Timor-Leste. Mike currently provides leadership coaching, education training and stakeholder and community relations support to both the public and private sector across various industries.
Mike holds a Master of Business Leadership which has given him a deeper understanding of working with people and process to optimise continuous improvement. He is a passionate educator, strategist and believer in the power of school leaders and teachers to lead change in even the most challenging environments.
