Clever Kids : Building resilience and self-esteem in Year 7/8 students with dyslexia

Clever Kids is a program designed to help students develop positive coping strategies in relation to their learning difficulty. Participation in the group also allows students to share their experiences with others, feel validated, acknowledged and supported.

Facilitators: Katrina Farrant and Kirsten Melville

Katrina and Kirsten are Psychologists at DSF Literacy and Clinical Services. They assess children, teenagers and adults struggling with the acquisition of effective literacy skills and recommend appropriate classroom-based and individual strategies. They also run small-group sessions for children struggling with the impact of having a learning difficulty. Katrina and Kirsten are passionate about empowering young people with learning difficulties to find their own solutions and develop positive coping strategies.
